Recently, we obtained the former "Worley Hospital".  It has been vacant for over 20 years. The following is our vision concerning the function of the future Human Resource and Life Training Center.  Out of necessity, we do plan to remodel and restore the interior of the building.  We do plan to maintain the integrity of the exterior.

HOW OUR VISION WILL FUNCTION:

1.  Offer relevant Bible studies and courses.  Why study the Bible if it is not relevant to daily life?

2.  Offer assistance through counseling.  Our ministry has one occupational therapist and three, soon to be four, Certified Belief Therapists who are certified by the state of Texas to give faith based counseling.  The local District Attorney and County Judge will use us as a recommendation.

3.  Educating and assisting others in finding needed resources to help them achieve their goals.

4.  Present small conferences and retreats such as:

        a.    EWE NIQUELY EWE:  Women accepting and functioning in their uniqueness and potential.

        b.    THE RAM MAN:  Men maturing without becoming wolves.

        c.    THE ARMOR OF GOD:  Bringing down the limitations of the mind.

        d.    WHAT DO I DO NOW?:  Help for the young mother.

        e.    MATURING IN FINANCES:  Learning how to stretch the penny so we can handle the dollar.

        f.    RELATIONSHIPS:  We can't live without them, so how do we live with them?

        g.    MARRIAGE:  God's first commission was given to the married couple becoming one.

        h.    AGING WITHOUT GROWING OLD:  Age does not mean the loss of purpose and destiny.

5.    Offering practical "how to" classes such as:

        a.    HOW TO READ AND FOLLOW RECIPES AND THEN SHOP ON A PENNY:  Teaching young families in the fast food society how to shop for and prepare well balanced economical meals for two weeks at a time.

        b.  HOW TO GET MORE MILES OUT OF YOUR CAR AND SAVE A FEW BUCKS:  Teaching young men and women the things they can do under the hood to maintain their vehicles.

        c.  DECORATING ON A DIME:  Teaching individuals how to enhance their home to create a warm atmosphere.

 6.  Offering creative "how to" classes such as:

        a.    ARTS AND CRAFTS:  Presenting professionals to teach painting, clay sculpting, floral arrangement, etc.

        b.    CREATIVE WRITING:  Books, stories, poems, and essays.

        c.    PERFORMING ARTS:  Plays, skits, mimes, and music.

7.  Writing and publishing resource and instructional materials and creative works.

8.  Our facility will include a RESOURCE ROOM AND GIFT SHOP where instructional materials and completed art projects can be displayed and made available for sale to the public.

9.  Our building will also be available to facilitate various community functions.

We believe very strongly that we are not to duplicate what is already functioning successfully in the community.  We are to network with them.  Example:  The community Act One organization can provide opportunity for those discovering desire and potential for drama.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  We are not working to make this project a moneymaking business.  The financially well off and affluent people have much of this already available to them because they can pay for it.  Because people from all walks of life can find themselves in the "pit" of life, we put no limitations on who will be welcome through our doors, but our focus aims more towards those who can't afford it.  To them our services will be free.

OUR VISION EXTENDED:  We are already networking with ministries across the country.  God compares His Kingdom to the physical body with Christ as the head and His people making up the many parts of the body.  We (the body of Christ) have been functioning as a spastic, diseased, and handicapped body.  God is calling us into His "divine order" so that we can be a "whole body" truly representing Him and going about doing good as Jesus did.

    1.   Connect with and have retreats to minister to leaders who find themselves in the "pit" of life, empowering them as a person first, then equipping them to better fulfill their call to leadership.

    2.  Broaden our scope of opportunities offered by inviting other ministries to come share their area of expertise.

    3.  Offer the same training through the conferences and retreats mentioned above to people beyond our community.

    4.  Establish a work that will be generational.

Here are just a few examples of the condition of the building.  

This is the first floor, west hallway.

There will have to be extensive work to incorporate central heat and air into the building. Also, the walls and floors, especially on the 2nd and 3rd floors, have a great deal of damage.

Unlike in this picture, the fire escapes no longer exist. There will have to be new contsruction to meet current codes concerning safety and fire escapes.

The light coming from the left is the front entrance to the building. The graffiti that is seen here is very similar to what is throughout the building....dating back to the 80's. It is not limited to walls. It is on doorknobs, windows, etc.

The plumbing and electrical work will have to be completely replaced througout the building.

As you can see in this picture, animals such as cats, mice, squirells, pigeons, and other birds, have had access to the inside through the many broken windows. When we first went into the building, there was a huge amount of animal feces and many bird carcuses on the third floor. We have boarded up the windows, but continue to find new damage on occassion.

This is just one example of the damage of the walls in the building. It doesn't even describe the damage to the floors and bathroom fixures (most of which have been shattered).

This is the front of the building. The carvings are original to the building and are currently all intact.
